The Delhi Commission for Women, in collaboration with the Delhi Police, rescued a 17-year-old girl, abducted 11 months ago, from Sultanpuri area, claimed the woman’s body.
The victim, Kavita (name changed) was noticed by her sister during the Chhatt Puja celebrations following which the latter called up the DCW’s 181 women helpline number. The women’s body swung into action and rescued the girl.

According to the DCW spokesperson, Kavita stated that the accused after marrying the girl, had kept her in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. She said that the accused, identified as Akash, brought her to Delhi a few days ago. Kavita also stated that she was sexually abused by the accused.

Akash would ask her to deliver a baby only then he would release her, she said to the DCW. Kavita gave birth to her a baby boy in Hathras, who is now two months old, said the spokesperson.
