Criticism must be taken in positive spirit: Jai Ram

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday said the criticism should be taken in a positive manner as it is a part of vibrant democracy.

After paying tribute to first the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Dr YS Parmar on his 112th birth anniversary here, he said Dr Parmar was a visionary leader who fought for the independent status of the state.

He succeeded to get a separate identity for the state and Himachal Pradesh joined the nation as 18th state of the Indian Union. “The real tribute to this visionary leader would be that we work with unity for the development and welfare of the state,” he added.

He said one can learn many things from his life and works and his leadership had contributed for the development of the state and everyone should acknowledge his contributions.

“At the same time we must also take criticism as a positive spirit and this is a beauty of democracy,” he said, adding there can be difference of opinion but there should not be any grudges.

The CM said Dr Parmar laid special thrust on construction of roads as according to him the roads were the lifelines for development in the hilly state.

“Such was the persona of Dr Parmar that he left an unforgettable impact in the hearts of lakhs of people of the state,” he added.

HP Assembly Speaker Rajeev Bindal, Deputy Speaker Hansraj, CM’s wife Dr Sadhna Thakur, former CM Virbhadra Singh, IPH Minister Mahender Singh, Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, CLP leader Mukesh Agnihotri, and son of Dr Parmar and former MLA Kush Parmar also paid floral tributes.
