Crime in Haryana down by 1.32pc: ADGP

In order to reduce the crime rate further especially the organised crime, the ADGP said that there would be intensive patrolling, crackdown on gangsters, seizure of illegal weapons, drugs etc by the police teams.

The Haryana Police on Monday said overall number of crimes in the state went down by 1.32 per cent in the month of May 2019 as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

Similarly, there has been a check on crime against property like dacoity, robbery, theft etc.

While giving this information on Monday, additional director general of police (ADGP), law and order, Navdeep Singh Virk said that during this period, number of crime against person have dropped down to 3022, which is 1.32 per cent lower than the 2018 figure of 3062.

Similarly, state has recorded a total 3013 incidents of crime against property in May 2019, which is 3.78 per cent less as compared to the 3127 incidents of corresponding period of previous year. The numbers of kidnapping and abduction incidents decreased to 362 in May 2019 from 542 in May 2018, attempt to murder to 81 in 2019 from 101 in 2018, culpable homicide to 3 from 8, abetment to suicide to 60 from 69, criminal intimidation to 271 in 2019 from 284 in 2018, thefts to 2144 from 2226, snatching to 201 from 242 and dacoity and robbery to 99 from 114.

“We assure that the Haryana Police would continue to vigorously enforce the law, pursue the campaign against drugs and prevent crimes to ensure safety and security of human rights and value of life,” he added.
