Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday told CPI-M MLAs in the state Legislative Assembly that the party was losing everything because of its arrogance.

Speaking outside the House, Miss Banerjee said the CPI-M is going to be ousted from Tripura where Assembly election has just concluded. “There are indications that BJP will wrest power from the CPI-M because of arrogance of the CPI-M and the betrayer of our party (referring to BJP leader Mukul Roy), Miss Banerjee said.

Miss Banerjee also blamed the CPI-M for instigating violence in Darjeeling. The CPI-M never visited Darjeeling and they only know the policy of divide and rule, she said.

There is no difference between the CPI-M and the BJP, they never think of common people’s interest, they only work for their vested interest, Miss Banerjee said when West Bengal official Language (Second Amendment Bill), 2018 was placed in the Assembly.

Congress MLA Sukhbilas Barma tried to include another amendment in the Bill, but Speaker Biman Banerjee ruled out the possibility of any further amendment or inclusion of any clause in the Bill.

A seven-member expert committee was formed before the Bill was placed in the Assembly and the Bill was formulated according to the suggestions of the expert committee, Miss Banerjee said.

“We should have equal respect for all languages including, Santhali, Oriya, Punjabi, Kamtapuri and Kurmali language, Miss Banerjee said. Objective of the Bill is to declare Kamtapuri, Rajbanshi and Kurmali languages as official languages in the state.
