Days after Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) member of Parliament (MP) from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann’s reported meeting with the Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar, the Shiromani Akali Dal on Wednesday said the ruling party the search of alliance partners for the coming Lok Sabha polls has exposed its nervousness after it has realised the ground reality in the state.

In a statement issued from the party head office here on Tuesday, the SAD spokesman, Daljit Singh Cheema said that from the recent statements of the Chief Minister (CM) Amarinder Singh and Jakhar’s move to meet rebel AAP MPs has further reaffirmed the believe in the Congress that it will be forced to forge alliance for 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

He said that such nervousness on the part of the Congress is outcome of the bitter truth of ground reality in Punjab that Congress is all set to be completely wiped out of state in the ensuing general elections.

The Akali leader said that Congress leadership is aware that it lies on tall claims made prior to assembly polls have been exposed before the people and non-fulfilment of its election promises will be sole reason for its crushing defeat.

Cheema said though time and again Congress leadership including CM Amarinder and Jakhar had claimed that Congress will fight alone in Punjab but with passage of only one year in power it has sensed its imminent
defeat.

The SAD leader said recent meeting between Mann and Jakhar has also shown that the Congress now wants to use the shoulders of the rebel MPs of AAP to fight the Lok Sabha polls.

He said that AAP was already a spent force in Punjab whose leadership has been exposed for its lies like Congress and combination of both will bite the dust at the hands of Akali Dal-BJP combine in year 2019 polls.

Replying to a media query about the possibility of a poll alliance on the lines of the one forged by Samajwadi Party with BSP and Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Amarinder had on Tuesday said a decision on any electoral alliance in Punjab for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections would be taken by the Congress high command at the appropriate time.
