Eyeing the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party cornered the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state on the issue of growing inflation and lawlessness.

The Congress party led by Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) Chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu launched a state-wide public campaign from Dharamshala on Friday.

The Congress workers took out a rally against the BJP lead government at the Centre and the state for the back breaking inflation.

They submitted a memorandum to the Governor Acharaya Devvrat through Kangra Deputy Commissioner, to draw his attention to the deteriorating law and order in the state with the rise in incidence of murder, rape and molestation and urged him to issue directions to the Jai Ram Thakur lead state government.

Addressing the party workers, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu lambasting the BJP government charged that there is a complete anarchy in the state and that the Jai Ram Thakur government’s 100 days agenda was 100 major crimes, which is in front of the public of the state.

“In the last four months 65 cases of rape, sexual assault and dowry deaths, while 35 cases of murder have surfaced, contributing to the situation of complete lawlessness. There seems to be no such thing as government in the state. While the culprits have become uncontrollable the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur is busy in celebratory mood at various functions,” he alleged.

He said that the Congress as a responsible Opposition is worried about the security of women in the state.“The people in the state are suffering from rising inflation, the petrochemical prices has touched an all time high and the government at the Centre is hell bent to benefit the private and corporate houses at the cost of the common man. The LPG cost has nearly doubled since what it had been in 2014,” he blamed.
