Ahead of the by-elections for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on November 30, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday led her party colleagues in the campaign for BJP candidates in 12 MCD wards, said a party leader.

The by-elections for the civic body are scheduled to be held on November 30.

The chief minister, along with local party workers and office bearers, embarked on a door-to-door campaign, holding public meetings and rallies, utilising the last Sunday before the bye-elections for connecting with voters and appealing to the people to vote for the BJP.

During the campaign, she attended huge public gatherings across Delhi, including Vinod Nagar, Greater Kailash, Ashok Vihar, Dwarka, Narayana and Sangam Vihar, to extend support to her party candidates.

Addressing the ‘Panna Pramukh’ convention in Ashok Vihar and Dwarka B wards, along with MPs Praveen Khandelwal and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Gupta urged party workers to work hard till the last minute, cross-check voter lists, and ensure that their listed electors cast their votes before lunchtime on the voting day.

In a public meeting with RWA representatives from Greater Kailash Ward, the chief minister discussed development and maintenance issues of the area in the presence of Member of Parliament (MP) Bansuri Swaraj, MLA Shikha Roy, and District President Ravindra Chaudhary.

Addressing a public meeting in the evening at F Block Road in Vinod Nagar Ward, she said, “I am confident that the people of Vinod Nagar will give a befitting reply to the challenge posed by Arvind Kejriwal by giving a ticket to a former councillor involved in corruption by defeating her.”

In the afternoon, Gupta, along with MP Ramveer Singh Bidhuri, arrived at Sangam Vihar A Ward and addressed a public meeting on Bandh Road, urging residents to join the triple-engine government to ensure the region’s overall development. Later in the evening, she appealed to the Narayana voters to join the triple-engine government in solving the area’s water problem and ensuring sanitation.
