CM Patnaik sows seeds during auspicious Akhaya Trituya

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik conducted his annual routine of symbolically commencing agricultural operations on the auspicious occassion of Akhaya Trutiya on Wednesday by holding a plough and sowing seeds at Nakchi here.

Though he has done this every year, it was for the first time in 18 years that he did so outside the coastal belt. He performed “Akhi Muthi Anukul” at Nakchi at Kishorenagar here and also initiated various developmental projects worth over Rs 200 crore for Athmallick subdivision.

Speaking very briefly at the public meeting, the Chief Minister of the state conveyed his best wishes to farmers and said they had earned laurels for the state at the national level.

Stating that his government is attaching top priority to agriculture, the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik asked farmers to take advantage of various schemes meant for them. He also noted that the forecast this year is of a good monsoon.

Health, information and public relations and law Minister Pratap Jena highlighted the pro-poor schemes of the state government . Agriculture Minister Pradip Maharathy, MPs Tathagat Satpathy, Nagendra Pradhan, MLA Sanjeev Sahu who is elected from the area, MLA Mahesh Sahu and others were present.

Angul district collector Anil Kumar Samal thanked the Chief Minister. In other parts of the state the OPCC president Prasad Harichandan and BJP president Basant Panda too performed the sowing operation and puja. Farmers across the state begin tilling the land and sowing operations from on Wednesday.
