The Todi Kheri village in Jind district of Haryana will now be called Sarna Khedi village as Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has approved a proposal in this regard.

A spokesperson of the Revenue Department said that this decision has been taken in view of the proposal of village Panchayat of Todi Khera which has recommended for the change of name to Sarna Khedi. In ancient times, the village was popularly known with the name of Sarna Khedi.

He said that gram panchayat Todi Kheri had requested that there was another village namely Tito Kheri at a distance of just four kilometers from the village which led to confusion not only among the people but also for availing ambulance, fire brigade, police and postal services.

There was neither any historical significance attached with the name Todi Kheri nor any incidence related to it.

No other village in the name of Sarna Khedi has inhabited anywhere in Sub-Division Safido, district Jind or anywhere in Haryana.

Hence, the changed name of Sarna Khedi of Todi Kheri village would not have clash or confusion with the name, he added.
