Delhi’s Social Welfare Minister, Ravinder Indraj Singh, on Tuesday stressed the vital role of cleanliness and hygiene, noting that maintaining these practices can significantly help in reducing healthcare costs.

As part of the ongoing ‘Seva Pakhwada’ (Service Fortnight) in Delhi, the minister participated in a large-scale cleanliness drive on the Ring Road at Shalimar Bagh. The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, social organizations, and sanitation workers.

Singh highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has transformed into a people’s movement.

Guided by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, citizens of the national capital are showing strong commitment to realizing the vision of a developed and garbage-free Delhi.

During the drive, the minister cautioned against careless littering, pointing out that discarded water bottles, food wrappers, and plastic bags make waste collection difficult for sanitation workers. He added that such negligence often leads to clogged drains, which in turn cause water-logging.

Students from a private school also joined the campaign, spreading awareness on the importance of cleanliness.

The cabinet minister further urged residents to extend cooperation to sanitation workers and contribute through voluntary labour to help keep the city clean. “If we all aspire for a Developed Delhi, then we must also pledge for a Clean Delhi,” he emphasized.

Calling Swachh Bharat not merely a government initiative but a collective responsibility, Singh underlined that every citizen has a crucial role to play in ensuring sustainable cleanliness.

Meanwhile, several welfare schemes are being rolled out in Delhi to strengthen infrastructure and improve the quality of life across diverse sections of society.
