Chouhan receives flak from VHP, RSS over MoS accord to Babas

Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is learnt to have been reprimanded by the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh over his recent decision to grant Minister of State (MoS) status to five Hindu babas and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has expressed serious displeasure over the same.

Sources said that Chouhan was summoned to the RSS headquarters at Nagpur on Wednesday to provide an explanation for his decision. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Sarkaryawah Suresh Bhaiyaji Joshi had called Chouhan to Nagpur over the issue.

The VHP had also taken exception at the grant of MoS status to the five Babas, during a recent coordination meeting held at Bhopal.

VHP functionaries had said that the MP BJP government’s decision was not right. Senior RSS and BJP office bearers were also present at the meet.

Meanwhile, one of the MoS, Computer Baba has already left on a ‘Narmada Yatra’ along with a group of sadhus to launch his duties as member of the committee set up for the conservation of the holy river.

Computer Baba, whose real name is Namdev Das Tyagi, left on a tour of four districts including Raisen, Jabalpur, Narsinghur and Mandla on Wednesday.

He said that he would look into any incidents of illegal sand mining and inform the concerned authorities to take action if he found some illegal activities going on.

Baba stated that he would meet the district Collectors and ask them to ensure that sand mining activities were being undertaken in accordance to the new sand mining policy laid down by CM Chouhan.

He also said that he would plant trees along the banks of the Narmda river and carry out cleanliness drives along with his followers and people.

Heedless to the fact that his complaint has resulted in the Madhya Pradesh State Government receiving an inquiry from the Prime Minister’s Office besides a High Court notice over grant of MoS status to him and four other Hindu Babas, the MoS Computer Baba was even seen busy carrying out his ‘dhooni’ (worship ritual) on the roof of a government Rest House.

When some media persons asked him about the High Court notice, Computer Baba calmly replied that CM Chouhan would reply to the court about the notice.

The Computer Baba had come to Bhopal after being granted the MoS status recently by MP CM Chouhan.

Sources said he was staying at a government rest house in the capacity of a MoS.

Some photographs had circulated on the social media, purportedly showing him sitting on the roof of the guesthouse and carrying out his worship rituals with full effects.

Before being granted the MoS status, Computer Baba had lodged a complaint with the PMO alleging a huge scam in sapling plantation during CM Chouhan’s ‘Narmada Sewa Yatra’ last year.

Taking cognizance of this complaint, the PMO has recently sought a detailed report from the state government. The MP HC has served a notice to the state seeking a reply over the grant of MoS status.
