Taking a jibe at Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s decision to make state legislative affairs minister Narottam Mishra head of an election reforms committee, MP Assembly leader of the Opposition Ajay Singh has quipped that Mishra himself has been disqualified from being an MLA by the Election Commission (EC) on charges of paid news and the final decision on the matter is still awaited.

Chouhan had announced a couple of days ago that he was in favour of Parliamentary and Assembly elections being held simultaneously across the country. He had also told media that the state would take the initiative in that direction and a committee would be constituted for the purpose.

He had announced that Mishra would head that election reforms committee.

Ajay Singh commented on Monday that making Mishra the head of such an important committee just goes to show how serious Chouhan is about the whole issue of having both the elections at the same time.

Singh also pointed out that despite being declared disqualified by the EC, Mishra has paid utter disregard to the order.
