Taking a dig at BJP’s charge that he is “ignoring” Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu denounced it calling himself a “son of Rayalaseema”.

It was a clear sign of the growing discord between BJP and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) who are allies in the Centre and the State.

Pointing out that he hailed from Chittoor district in Rayalaseema region, Naidu claimed that he is aware of the challenges faced by the region and is working hard for its development.

Andhra Pradesh BJP had on Friday passed a declaration in which the party claimed that Naidu has ignored the southern part of Andhra Pradesh comprising Anantapur, Chittoor, Kadapa and Kurnool districts.

According to reports, Naidu made his remarks during a tele-conference with TDP leaders from his residence in Undavalli.

He said that the people were aware of the development projects undertaken by his government for the region, including providing water and the upcoming Kia factory in Anantapur.

Ever since the presentation of the Union Budget 2018-19, the rift between Andhra Pradesh government led by TDP and the BJP at the Centre has deepened with the former alleging that the state has been ignored.

The CM has told members of his party to keep the pressure on the Centre in their demand for “justice” for the state.
