Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Manoj Yadava said on Friday the state police were fully prepared for the Lok Sabha polls to be held in Haryana on 12 May.

All 10 Lok Sabha seats of Haryana are going to polls in a single phase on Sunday when voting will be in held in the sixth phase of general elections.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Haryana DGP said they had taken all measures and were in a very comfortable position to ensure a peaceful and incident-free elections.

“We have not left any loopholes unplugged in the arrangements for the elections. I have also visited different districts to get a review of poll preparedness last week,” the police chief added.

A total of around 67,000 police personnel have been mobilised for election duty. All the Range Inspector Generals (IGs), Commissioners of Police and district superintendents of police (SPs) have already been instructed to leave no stone unturned for maintaining law and order at their respective places of postings.

Giving details of the security preparedness, the DGP said 95 companies of Central Armed Police Forces had been deployed in every nook and corner of the state as a part of special security arrangement during polls.

In addition, 33,340 state police personnel, 11,750 home guards volunteers, 8,063 Special Police Officers and 5,788 police trainees are on poll duty to ensure tight vigil and security across the state.

Apart from these, senior Police officers including 6 IGPs, 1 DIG and 12 SPs along with additional forces has also been deputed in different districts to deal with any law and order situation.

Monitoring has been intensified by the flying squads and static surveillance teams to prevent violation of Model Code of Conduct especially distribution of cash, liquor, gifts etc.

“Police forces were conducting flag marches to create confidence among the voters to come and vote on the day of polling. We will coordinate and monitor the entire security system on the day of polling from Police headquarters too,” Yadava added.
He said that police teams also conducting close monitoring of sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling locations. Special provisions have been made at such places across the state.
Meanwhile, the police are also keeping a close watch on anti-social elements who might try to disrupt the electoral process. Adequate police personnel will be on duty in each of the total 19,425 booths in the state. In addition, police have installed check-posts along the bordering states to keep an eye on the moving vehicles and other elements that can breach the model code of conduct.
