Chaitanyananda Saraswati, a 62-year-old self-styled godman accused of sexually harassing 17 students at a private institute in New Delhi, was confronted with his two female aides, a police official said. The two women have been accused of threatening the victims and forcing them to delete their lewd messages
During the investigation, police found extensive evidence on Saraswati’s mobile phones, including numerous chats with women, and photographs, some of which appear to have been taken secretly.
“He allegedly lured students with promises of jobs, including making them airline hostesses, and even asked girls who practised yoga to send videos and photos,” a police officer said.
Adding to his statement, he mentioned that some conversations on Saraswati’s phone contained instructions for the victims to ‘seduce him’ and send hugging and kissing emojis.
Saraswati, who held the position of chairperson at a centrally approved private institute in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj, reportedly set up his office like a ‘sweet room’ and maintained a separate room where girls were allegedly tortured and molested. Police also found gifts and jewelry he used to lure students.
The two female aides, Shweta and Kajal, and one Bhavana, all sisters and former employees of the institute, held positions as dean and wardens. They are accused of intimidating the victims and helping Saraswati manipulate them.
Police are questioning the three women, confronting them with evidence recovered from Saraswati’s devices.
Amid the probe, it was revealed that Saraswati had been communicating with victims even while on the run, using a London-based foreign number to mislead authorities.
His phone also contained a CCTV app named “HKI Vision,” which may have been used to monitor students. Some chat records were deleted, suggesting attempts to cover up his crimes.
Saraswati has reportedly been uncooperative during the investigation, giving evasive replies and showing no remorse. Even when confronted with documents and digital evidence, he has largely remained silent, responding only reluctantly.
On Monday, police took him to the institute campus to identify locations from where he contacted his victims.
Saraswati was arrested at a hotel in Agra on Sunday, after being on the run for over 50 days.
