Calamity prone HP gets Rs 84.13 cr under NDRF

Calamity prone, Himachal Pradesh has been released Rs 84.13 crore by Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Finance under National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur said on Friday.

Thakur said HP experienced constant rainfall, cloudbursts and landslides which led to severe losses to life, property and crops during monsoon season 2017.

All the Deputy Commissioners and concerned departments that is Agriculture, Horticulture, MPP and Power, Irrigation and Public Health, PWD and Education had submitted detailed loss and damage reports. Based on this, a comprehensive Memorandum of Losses was prepared and submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for providing financial assistance.

CM said that after the receipt of detailed memoranda from HP, Inter Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) was deputed to visit calamity affected areas for the spot assessment from 28/12/17 to 30/12/17. The High Level Committee (HLC) had recommended the quantum of assistance to the state based on the extent norms of assistance and the report of the IMCT.

He said that based on the above recommendations, a sum of Rs 84.13 crore has been released to the state of HP by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure, Finance Commission Division, under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) during 2018-2019, which is more than the allocation as compared to year 2016.

The allocation made by the Government of India under NDRF in the year 2015-16 was Rs 81.22 crore and this allocation was Rs 63.23 crore in the year 2016-17.
