Brother alleges foul play in electrocution death; murder probe underway in Uttam Nagar

Delhi Police (IANS)

The Delhi Police have launched an investigation after the brother of a man who died allegedly by accidental electrocution in Dwarka’s Uttam Nagar area raised suspicions about the circumstances of his death, officials said on Friday.

According to the police, the investigation is now focusing on the victim’s wife based on the allegations made by the deceased’s family.

The incident came to light on July 13, when Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital authorities informed the police about the death of 36-year-old Karan Dev, reportedly due to electrocution.

Karan was declared brought dead by the attending medical team, and a Medico-Legal Case (MLC) was filed.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), Ankit Singh, said, “The body of the deceased was shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for a post-mortem. At that time, the family did not raise any allegations.”

“However, considering Karan’s age and to rule out any unnatural circumstances, a post-mortem examination was conducted,” the DCP added.

On July 16, Karan’s brother, Kunal, approached the police with concerns and suspicions regarding the cause of death, requesting a detailed investigation.

Following his statement, a case was registered under sections related to murder after an inquest and preliminary findings supported the need for further inquiry.

The police said all possible angles are being explored. Statements of family members, medical staff, and potential witnesses have been recorded as the investigation continues.
