BJP on Friday expressed happiness over its “success” in panchayat poll and said it would have done better if the ruling party did not resort to widespread terror and killings.

Addressing a Press conference BJP state president Dilip Ghosh said the party’s result in the panchayat poll was very satisfactory and that it would rise as number one political party in future in West Bengal.

“The result is so encouraging that our candidate has been boosted and we will definitely get quite a number of seats in the Lok Sabha poll in 2019,” said Mr Ghosh.

BJP state president also said that BJP got an expected result in several districts and the party could have done better in other districts had Trinamul Congress (TMC) not unleashed terror.

“Even people of the state witnessed a rare incident. Ballot papers were forged in front of the government officials and media to manipulate results on the day of counting. Despite this BJP got the second position and won several seats,” said Mr Ghosh.

The saffron brigade is already preparing to secure several seats in the Lok Sabha 2019 polls and the panchayat poll has prepared a ground for that upcoming election, Mr Ghosh said.

“If TMC thinks they will continue with the reign of terror and deprive the people of their democratic rights then it is their wrong imagination. BJP is all set to invest its sincere effort to restore the democracy of the state so that the people could get back their rights to participate in free and fair election,” said Mr Ghosh.

Asked whether the BJP will make attempts to prevent its winning candidates from joining the TMC, Mr Ghosh said the party prevented attacks on the candidates during filing of nominations and on the polling day. It will protect the candidates and see to it that they are not forced to join TMC.

Yesterday, CPI-M state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra said the party expected such a poor result as it was not a panchayat election but a murder of the democracy.

He said chief minister Mamata Banerjee kept her promise ~ to oust the Opposition parties from all panchayats by any means.

Her party-backed miscreants fulfilled her dream by creating trouble and unleashing violence. “All secular forces must join to combat against communal forces like BJP and TMC,” he said.
