BJP workers in large numbers on Saturday gathered on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg near the Congress headquarters to protest against the alleged use of derogatory language towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, during a recent Congress-RJD rally in poll-bound Bihar.
Led by Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and MP Yogendra Chandolia, in presence of other senior party leaders, thousands of BJP workers expressed their anger, chanting slogans like ‘India will not tolerate disrespect of PM’s mother’, ‘stop insulting mothers and sisters,’ and many more such slogans.
Following speeches by party leaders, Sachdeva led the workers towards Congress headquarters, while Delhi Police stopped them from moving ahead.
Some of the party leaders reportedly got hurt, including the state president, and former minister Kailash Gahlot, due to the water cannons that were used to stop them.
Sachdeva, in his address, stated that this intolerance exists because PM Modi is against family dynasties, opposes Naxalism, is against terrorism, opposes casteism, adding that these are the very things PM’s opponents stand for.
He alleged that the way Congress supporters are daring to speak ill of the PM and his late mother publicly, is something that did not happen suddenly, but is a manifestation of the deep hatred within.
The Delhi BJP president pointed out that this incident occurred in Bihar, in the region known to all of us as the sacred land of Mithila, which is the birthplace of Mata Sita, and also the land of great scholars.
He said that the heritage and self-respect of the people of this land were tarnished by this incident, and added the people of the entire country will respond to this, with a strong reply from the people of Bihar, as such language is unacceptable in a civilized society, Sachdeva added.
Sachdeva said that Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Yadav must apologize over the incident that happened during the rally.
National General Secretary of the BJP, Tarun Chugh, speaking on the occasion, said that today, with BJP workers, the voice of Delhi has reached the streets.
He said that this voice is for all those who have dared to use indecent language against the PM, and added that the grand old party is in mental frustration.
Chugh continued and said that the Congress party is now preparing for yet another defeat, as the language used in Bihar is undemocratic, while he said that the entire Congress party must apologize to the nation.
