A journalist was among two persons killed when an SUV rammed into their bike in Bhojpur district on late Sunday night.

However, the family of the journalist have alleged that it was a case of murder and a former village head was behind it, police said on Monday.

Rajesh, brother of Naveen Nishchal, has alleged in the FIR that it was a case of murder and a former Panchayat Mukhiya Ahmed Ali alias Harsu and his son Dabloo were behind it, Avakash Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Bhojpur, said said.

Naveen, who worked for a Hindi daily, and his friend Vijay Singh were riding a motorcycle last night when they were crushed to death by the SUV near Nahsi village.

The irate villagers were able to intercepted the vehicle, but the occupants of the SUV fled from the scene. The mob later set the SUV on fire, Avakash Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Bhojpur, said.

The SUV belongs to Harsu.

It was alleged in the FIR that Harsu had been nursing a grouse against the reporter. While the father-son duo are absconding, efforts are being made to capture them, the SP said.

As per media reports, the house of the former head of the village was vandalised by the irate mob, however, police personnel have been deployed in the village to control the situation.
