According to local villagers, the elephant is a male, having injures in many body parts, making it difficult to move.

An ailing old elephant was seen wandering in the Satklosia Wild Life sanctuary for some days without any proper treatment by forest officials.

It was spotted by locals in Bantala range falling under Angul territorial division. Later, the forest officials reportedly drove it to Satkosia sanctuary, where it is in serious condition till date.

According to local villagers, the elephant is a male, having injures in many body parts, making it difficult to move.

The DFO of Satkosia Rama Samy said the male elephant was inflicted with ulcers on the body and legs. He said,“It is being treated by local veterinary doctors .The injuries are due to old age .If need arises we will call doctors from Nandankanan”.

Meanwhile animal lovers have expressed concern over the laxity by forest officials in providing better treatment to ailing animals. S
