A family dispute is at the centre of a chilling triple murder case in Bengaluru after a couple and their younger daughter were found dead inside their apartment in the city’s KR Puram area, with police suspecting the involvement of the family’s elder daughter and her live-in partner.
Investigators are examining whether tensions over the daughter’s relationship and mounting financial liabilities triggered the killings. Police have launched a search operation to trace the two suspects, who remain untraceable.
The victims were identified as Somasundar (55), Muthulakshmi (48) and their younger daughter, Supriya (20). The murders took place on Monday evening in Seegehalli under the KR Puram police station limits.
According to police, the accused man, Kenneth, and the family’s elder daughter, Shwetha, had been living together for the past two months. The victims were allegedly attacked repeatedly with a sharp weapon.
Preliminary findings suggest the parents had opposed their elder daughter’s relationship with Kenneth, who is suspected to have been involved in the killings. Investigators are examining whether that opposition escalated into a violent confrontation.
The attack took place inside the family’s apartment at Sai Green Apartment in Dhamanik Layout, Seegehalli.
Debt angle also being examined
Investigators are also looking into allegations that the elder daughter had accumulated debts of nearly Rs 30 lakh. Police sources said the issue had reportedly become a recurring source of friction within the family.
According to information gathered during the investigation, Muthulakshmi was alone at home when the accused allegedly arrived. Somasundar and Supriya were away at the time.
Police suspect an altercation followed, during which Muthulakshmi was allegedly attacked and killed.
Investigators believe the accused remained inside the apartment after the incident. When Supriya later returned home, she was allegedly attacked and killed. Somasundar was also assaulted after he arrived.
Despite sustaining severe injuries, Somasundar reportedly managed to leave the apartment and seek help before succumbing to his injuries.
Manhunt underway
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield) Saidulu Adavath said police teams have been deployed to trace the accused.
The bodies have been sent to East Point Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police said the exact sequence of events and motive are still being verified. Further investigation is underway.
