Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Thursday said that now that the lies of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its supremo Arvind Kejriwal on a purported “gallows room” in the Old Secretariat are exposed they (the AAP) are ready to spread more falsehoods to cover up that one lie.
Sachdeva alleged that the demand for live streaming of the meeting of the Privileges Committee of the Delhi Assembly by AAP leaders is merely aimed at creating political propaganda without constitutional justification.
Lashing out at the AAP, the state unit chief of the saffron party said all its leaders, who are accusing the BJP of insulting the sacrifices of freedom fighters, should first question Congress before blaming the BJP why, despite being in power from 1947 to 2013, they never found any “gallows room” in the Old Secretariat building complex.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta has officially cautioned Leader of the Opposition Atishi against making public comments on the ongoing ‘Faansi Ghar’ inquiry. In a formal letter issued on Thursday, he criticized the LoP’s move to make unsubstantiated statements during a press briefing and asserted that such actions undermine the independent and non-partisan functioning of the Assembly’s Committee of Privileges.
The Delhi BJP chief’s response and Assembly Speaker’s intervention came in the wake of Atishi’s public assertion that a ‘Faansi Ghar’ did exist within the Assembly premises.
The speaker has also demanded that the evidence of existence regarding the gallows, if any, should be presented to the Committee of Privileges, rather than through the media.
Atishi had alleged that the BJP was standing with the British by hiding their brutality and calling the martyrdom site of freedom fighters, ‘Faansi Ghar’, a tiffin room.
Responding to AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj’s remarks, accusing the BJP of deceiving the people close to the party, the Delhi unit spokesperson of the saffron party Praveen Shankar Kapoor questioned the AAP leader as to who betrayed his party’s internal ombudsman Admiral Ramdas, and who betrayed people like Kiran Bedi, Shazia Ilmi, Madhu Bhaduri, Richa Pandey, Captain Gopinath, Yogendra Yadav, Shashi Bhushan, Prashant Bhushan, Anand Kumar, Mayank Gandhi along with Rajkumar Anand, Kapil Mishra, Kartar Singh, and Kailash Gahlot, who were earlier part of the AAP.
