Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday announced that local MLAs have been inducted into the Delhi Rural Development Board and Trans Yamuna Area Development Board as members, along with relevant officials, to enhance their functioning and ensure smooth and effective implementation of work.
Notably, the chairpersons of these boards have been accorded the status of Cabinet Ministers in the Delhi government.
Mangolpuri MLA Rajkumar Chauhan has been appointed Chairman of the Delhi Rural Development Board, while Gandhi Nagar MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely will serve as Chairman of the Trans Yamuna Area Development Board, an official order said.
Both leaders have previously served as ministers in the Delhi government and bring with them long years of governance experience.
The position of Chairperson of the Trans Yamuna Area Development Board has been designated with the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Delhi government.
The Trans Yamuna board will include MLAs Mohan Singh Bisht, Abhay Verma, Om Prakash Sharma, Jitender Mahajan, Ajay Mahawar, Gopal Rai, Veer Singh Dhingan, Surender Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar, Anil Goyal, Sanjay Goyal, Ravikant, Ravinder Singh Negi, and Chaudhary Zubair Ahmad, as the members.
In addition, the board will include senior officials such as the Commissioner, MCD, the Development Commissioner, GNCTD, ACS/ Principal Secretaries/ Secretaries of Finance and Planning, PWD, Irrigation & Flood Control, Revenue, Power and Urban Development, the Vice Chairman, DDA, the CEO, Delhi Jal Board, the CEO, DUSIB, and the Chairmen of the Ward Committees of Shahdara (South) and Shahdara (North).
Special invitees to the Board will be Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, who is the MP from East Delhi, North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari, and Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra.
According to CM Rekha Gupta, these steps will ensure faster implementation of development projects and closer coordination between elected representatives and officials.
She added that a similar process is being adopted to strengthen the Delhi Rural Development Board as well
