Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta remembered Dr B R Ambedkar on his birth anniversary as a staunch advocate of equality and social justice.
Gupta paid floral tributes at Dr Ambedkar’s statue in the Vidhan Sabha at a function organized in the complex to mark the 136th birth anniversary of the architect of the Indian constitution.

Highlighting Baba Saheb’s legacy, Gupta described the Constitution as a unique and visionary document that continues to guide the democratic framework of the nation.
He said the forward looking ideas of Ambedkar are relevant in the contemporary times.
The event held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Ambedkar at the Delhi Assembly complex drew a large crowd, including women sanitation workers hired by the legislature and other staff members reflecting on the widespread respect and deep admiration for Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to Indian society.

In his address on the occasion, Speaker Gupta emphasized that the ideals and vision of Baba Saheb continue to inspire us to strive for a building an inclusive, just, and equitable society. He underscored the importance of carrying forward these principles in governance and public life.
Gupta noted that Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary has been declared a Gazetted holiday in recognition of his immense contribution to the nation. Ambedkar, who was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, will always be remembered for his unparalleled contribution towards the upliftment of the downtrodden.
