Two alert cops, Head Constable Krishan and Shiv Kumar, saved a woman from being stabbed by her ex-fiancée, with whom she had broken off her engagement, police said on Wednesday.
The cops were on patrol in the Shana market of Paharganj in Central Delhi.
“While on patrolling duty, both of them noticed a scuffle between a woman and a man, on which they went to check the scene, where they found that a person was holding a knife against her, threatening her by saying, ‘Ab dekta hu tum kisi aur se kaise shaadi karti ho’ (I will see how you can marry some other person),” said Nidhin Valsan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central).
The officer continued by saying that the man, identified as Karan, a 27-year-old resident of Paharganj, was overpowered by the cops and was subsequently taken into custody.
According to the statement of the woman, she was in relationship with the accused, Karan, and got engaged later; however, it was called off six months ago.
It was further added by her that, since then, Karan had been harassing and intimidating her, and on the day of the incident, he entered her office, assaulted her, and threatened her with a knife for refusing to marry him.
Valsan mentioned that based on the victim’s statement, a case was registered under the relevant sections of the BNS and Arms Act at the police station.
