A day after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Hindon elevated corridor in Ghaziabad, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP government of “telling lies” regarding projects in the state.

“He (Adityanath) charged us with spreading dynasty politics. I want to ask, which one is the ‘Yadav lane’ on the elevated road,” the Samajwadi Party chief asked at a press conference.

On Friday, Akhilesh Yadav had taken a dig at Yogi Adityanath’s government over the Hindon elevated corridor inauguration. Posting two tweets, one of which was from the time when he was the CM, Akhilesh pointed out that the BJP government was taking credit for a project which was started during the SP reign.

“Whether it is the Lucknow-Agra Expressway or the Gomti riverfront project of the previous government, this government is only speaking lies and hoodwinking the people,” he said on Saturday.

Yadav also claimed that the state government was trying to defame and harass its political opponents with inquiries.

“The political opponents are being humiliated through the investigating agencies…but it is also a fact that they will have to reap the fruits tomorrow of what they are sowing today,” he cautioned.

At the press conference, Yadav did not address questions on whether there was an “understanding” between his party and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) alliance for the upcoming legislative council election.

However, Yadav brushed aside Union minister Ramdas Athawale’s invitation to BSP chief Mayawati to join NDA stating that the BJP was worried about a possible alliance of “45 political parties”.

Akhilesh’s statement comes a day after, , the Uttar Pradesh Government, on the recommendation of governor Ram Naik passed an order to officially introduce ‘Ramji’ as the middle name of Dr B.R. Ambedkar in all documents and records in the state.

He also censured the alteration in the name of Babasaheb BR Ambedkar by the Uttar Pradesh government adding that Governor Ram Naik’s recommendation may not always be a good suggestion.

Reacting to the protests over jobs, Yadav said that the government has failed in providing employment to the populace and those protesting for jobs are receiving batons.
