After facing sharp criticism for denying local scholars a change to apply for the post of researchers, the Uttarakhand Rural Development and Migration Commission provided a clarification on the recruitment advertisement published recently.

The Commission claimed that the job is challenging and besides foreign universities, scholars from educational institutions like IIT, Roorkee, IIM, Kashipur, Central University (Srinagar) can apply for research scholars posts.

The advertisement on hiring young professionals as researcher created a big controversy in the hill state. It clearly stated that scholars from IIM, IIT, DLRI, FMS, IRMA, Delhi School of Economics, IIFM, NALSAR, Delhi School of Social Sciences and any other post graduate institute of national eminence and international institute of eminence can apply for the post.

After the advisement appeared and people began slamming the Uttarakhand Rural Development and Migration Commission for ignoring local youths over the study of a grave issue like migration, the commission was on the back foot.

The clarification stated that even the students of Central University (Srinagar) can apply for the post. Uttarakhand Rural Development and Migration Commission vice-president S S Negi said, “The commission has decided to appoint two research scholars in the commission. The research scholars would be selected as per the guidelines issued by ‘NITI Aayog’ and National Rural Development.

Applicants from universities, foreign universities, education institutions like IIT, Roorkee, IIM, Kashipur, Central University (Srinagar) can apply for the research scholars post. “ Negi denied rumours related to appointment of research scholars in the commission.

According to him, the job profile is extremely challenging and the selected candidates have to work towards research and tabulation of data. The Uttarakhand Rural Development and Migration Commission recently concluded a survey on migration hit villages.
