Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said despite the “hurdles” created by the Centre, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has carried out several developmental works in the national Capital in its three years of governance.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the 12.4 million litres capacity underground water reservoir /booster pumping station at Mayapuri, Kejriwal said regardless being “new ” in politics, the AAP has carried out many welfare works for people in Delhi which other political parties failed to do in past 70 years.

“The parties like the BJP and the Congress which for the past 70 years could not even manage to provide water to people in the capital, how do you expect them to serve people in other states? It is shameful,” he said.

Counting the “achievements” of his government, Kejriwal said in the past three years, the AAP government has provided water to 309 colonies in Delhi.

Kejriwal said the AAP government will try to provide every household in Delhi with potable water through taps in next two to three years.

The Chief Minister said that the government is also toiling hard to build a sewer system in all colonies.

He also reassured people that no jhuggi put up before 2015 will be demolished in the city.

“For the people living in the slums, we have started to construct their houses. We have already started construction at five jhuggi colonies and soon the construction work in another 99 such colonies will start.

here are 628 jhuggi colonies in Delhi, so it will take time to rehabilitate all, you need to be patient,” he said.

Kejriwal also pointed out his government’s recent announcement of taking out 77,000 senior citizens on free pilgrimage trips in the country every year.

The Chief Minister said the reason the AAP government has been “able to carry all such developmental works” was because of its “zero tolerance” for corruption.

“We are saving a lot of money, because neither we (AAP) embezzle money nor we allow anyone else to do it. Despite several hurdles from the Centre, our government has carried out many works,” he said.
