Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva on Wednesday said that for the past ten years, the Aam Aadmi Party’s political narrative has centered around opposing private school education.
However, during this time, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal never took any legal measures to curb the arbitrariness of private schools, he alleged.
Sachdeva said that now, as the present BJP government brings in the School Fee Regulation Bill, AAP leaders — now in opposition — have become agitated.
The BJP leader claimed that AAP’s Atishi has been involved in Delhi’s education sector for nearly a decade, first as an aide to then Education Minister Manish Sisodia for eight years, and later as Education Minister and Chief Minister for two years. Despite this long tenure, she never enforced any legal regulation on private schools, he said.
Sachdeva further alleged that the former CM is now using “shameless rhetoric” to mislead parents.
The Delhi BJP chief stated that AAP’s political journey from 2011 to 2025 shows that whether in power or in opposition, the party has relied solely on media rhetoric, he claimed.
According to Sachdeva, if AAP leaders had been sincere about regulating school fees, they could have introduced a bill during their own tenure.
On Monday, Delhi’s Education Minister Ashish Sood presented the “Delhi School Education (Fee Regulation and Transparency) Bill, 2025” in the Legislative Assembly. The bill aims to provide relief to a large number of students and their parents across the national capital.
