Listing major works done by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in memory of Dr. BR Ambedkar, the Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, on Friday, asked AAP leaders to name five initiatives taken up by them in their ten-year rule in the capital to truly promote Dalits and also Baba Saheb’s name.
Sachdeva and MP Yogendra Chandolia have hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party, saying that it is sad to see their leaders, every other day, try to invoke the name of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in political discussions, just for their political survival.
The BJP leaders said that the AAP, during its tenure, just renamed 31 Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar School of Excellence, and then rendered those schools worthless by affiliating them to a newly set up Delhi Board of School Education, which had no credibility.
They claimed that some of the class 12th students of those schools, after graduating, couldn’t manage admission in any higher education university, due to the affiliation of the schools to a new board, which led to mass quitting by students from these schools, Sachdeva claimed.
The BJP leaders claimed that Arvind Kejriwal did nothing for poor students to promote specialised education for deprived students, as 70 per cent of Delhi government schools had no facility to teach either science or commerce at the senior secondary level.
Delhi BJP leaders have also said that AAP leaders should note that the cause of Dalit upliftment cannot be fulfilled by just putting up Baba Saheb’s photographs.
