The Aam Aadmi Party Sunday contested Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s assertion that an artificial pond created at Vasudev Ghat for Chhath Puja contained water from the Yamuna River.
Delhi AAP President Saurabh Bharadwaj termed the claim a falsehood and “farziwada” (fakery). He challenged the Chief Minister to visit the site with him to show the public what he called the truth.
“The water in your artificial Yamuna was actually filtered water from a Water Treatment Plant,” Bharadwaj stated. He added that labourers working at the ghat were also stating the same.
Bharadwaj shared a video on the social media platform X in which Chief Minister Gupta is seen saying in an interview that the water in the pond was from the Yamuna and had seeped in through the soil. He also shared a media report contradicting this claim.
According to that report, workers at the site indicated that the water was supplied via a green pipe from a treatment plant. They stated the area was dry before preparation, with a plastic sheet laid down to hold water, making seepage from the river unlikely.
