The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday staged a protest after government officials reportedly moved to clear the official office of Sultanpuri MLA Mukesh Ahlawat. The party alleged the action is a politically motivated attempt by the BJP-led government to obstruct its public work.

Hundreds of AAP workers gathered outside the MLA’s office in Sultanpuri, responding to a call by the party’s Delhi State President, Saurabh Bharadwaj. Bharadwaj stated that the BJP government is targeting AAP MLAs through a deliberate conspiracy and that the party stands firmly with its elected representatives.

At the center of the dispute is an eviction notice for the MLA’s office. Mukesh Ahlawat claimed his office was formally allotted to him on June 25, 2025, for a full five-year term. He stated that he received an eviction notice on November 13, which was issued on November 7.

Ahlawat contested the timing of the action, stating that a mandatory 15-day notice period is required. He argued that counting from the notice’s issuance or his receipt of it, the deadline would fall on November 22 or November 28, respectively. He also mentioned that he filed a case in court on November 14, with a hearing scheduled for November 20, and questioned why the administration arrived a day before the court hearing.

The MLA accused the government of selective targeting, pointing out that two other government buildings in his sector have a total of 38 vacant rooms. He suggested the eviction is an effort to halt public work in an area with a significant population from poor and Dalit communities.

Ahlawat further alleged discriminatory allocation of funds, claiming that proposals from AAP MLAs are being blocked while funds are released to BJP MLAs. He stated that work on 24 hospitals, approved during the previous Kejriwal government, has been stopped, leading to a crisis in healthcare services.
