Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday alleged that 95 acres of land belonging to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was handed over to the DMRC without the approval of the municipal body.
Addressing a press conference, AAP national spokesperson Dilip Pandey said the latest evidence of corruption came from within the MCDs in the form of a letter written by an additional commissioner of the North MCD to the mayor on 18 May 2018.
Pandey said the letter has raised several concerns of the former additional commissioner regarding massive “financial irregularities” being committed by the North MCD.

“The officer has flagged the brazenness with which large sums of money were given out to private individuals under the grab of acquiring land for the Rani Jhansi flyover project, despite the fact that the land belonged to the government,” Pandey said, adding that the flyover project has been pending since 1998, and appears to have turned into a “means of channelling funds to the BJP.”
“The most shocking of them all is the transfer of 95 acres of land belonging to the MCD to the DMRC without the approval of the municipal body. The land, which is valued at over Rs 15,000 crore by conservative estimates, is currently being developed by a private builder,” Pandey said.
Pandey said the land is a subject controlled by the BJP-appointed Lt-Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal and alleged that the land scam of this scale is not possible without the knowledge of the L-G and the chief secretary.
Pandey said the officer in question, Renu Jagdev, has been shunted out of her position by the L-G, who controls transfers and postings of all bureaucrats in Delhi.
“The officer made several attempts to flag this issue, but was punished by being relieved of her charge as additional commissioner.
This entire episode raises serious questions on the role of the BJP leadership, the L-G and senior bureaucrats who relinquished claim of Rs 15,000 crore worth of land belonging to the MCD leading to windfall gain to a private builder,” he said.
