To resolve traffic problems plaguing the state, the Punjab government has decided to construct 32 new Railway Over Bridges (RoBs) at an estimated cost of Rs 1350 Crore. Addressing a Press conference in Amritsar, public works department (PWD) minister, Vijay Inder Singla, said in the next one-and-half year, seven new railway overbridges would be set up in Majha region at an estimated cost of Rs 355 Crore.

Singla said that with the efforts of the State government, it is for the first time that Punjab will get the highest share on the basis of the road length from the Pradhan Mantri Sarak Yojna and by contributing 40 per cent of the state’s share in the total expenditure of Rs 2000 Crore, all the link roads would be reconstructed.

He said that the government tightened the noose around the toll plaza companies straight after coming to power, resulting into extending of all the facilities on the roads by them and has reduced the traffic stagnation on toll plazas. The minister said that we are soon going to set up a Helpline for complaints related to toll plazas, so that no one is harassed by them.
