Three children returning from school were pulled out of debris after a wall of an old locked house collapsed on them in east Delhi’s Mandawali following heavy rainfall, the Delhi Fire Service said on Friday.

The survivors were identified as Pankaj, 8; Dhruv, 10; and Adi, 8, they said.

A senior police officer said that a PCR call was made around 12:58 pm by a woman, Manisha, 35, a resident of Saket, who informed them that a wall had collapsed and children were trapped under the debris.

“The wall of an old locked house has collapsed due to a heavy downpour in the area, and some children have been trapped under it,” the caller mentioned, the officer said.

With this information, a team immediately went to the location and pulled the children out of the rubble.

Meanwhile, according to an official of DFS, they were informed about the incident at around 1 pm, after which five fire tenders were sent to the location.

“Locals and a PCR unit pulled out the three children from the debris before our team could reach the scene,” the officer added in his statement.

The survivors were immediately shifted to the nearby hospital for medical treatment, the officer mentioned.

Further details are awaited in this matter.
