3 brutal gang rapes in one week: Haryana Police conducts raids

With three brutal gang rape cases reported in the state in the last one week, Haryana Police on Monday said raids were on to arrest the culprits.

In yet another case, police on Monday arrested a 50-year-old man for a sexually assaulting a minor girl in Pinjore. The man allegedly inserted a wooden object in the girl’s private parts.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said police were making all efforts to arrest the accused in the rape cases and promised action against the guilty.

A 15-year-old class 10 student in Kurukshetra was gang-raped and her private parts mutilated after her murder in adjoining Jind district. An 11-year-old Dalit girl was raped and murdered allegedly by her two neighbours in Panipat district on Saturday night.

Also on Saturday night, a 22-year-old woman was abducted and gang-raped by four unidentified men in an SUV.

In the Kurukshetra case, the victim’s half-naked, mutilated body was recovered from a water body in Jind district on Sunday. Reports said her injuries were reminiscent of those suffered by Nirbhaya, the victim of the horrific December 16 gang rape and murder case in Delhi that had outraged the nation six years ago.

A medical examination of the victim showed that she received 19 severe injuries on her head, hands, face and chest and a foreign object was inserted into her private parts, causing massive internal injuries.
Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man was arrested on Monday for a sexually assaulting a minor girl in Haryana’s Pinjore. The allegedly inserted a wooden object in the girl’s private parts.

The girl’s family had lodged a complaint, following which the man was arrested and booked under the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Brij Pal, assistant sub-inspector at Pinjore police station, said that as per the complaint to the police the accused had not raped the girl, but assaulted her in a brutal manner. The crime was allegedly committed when the girl was playing outside her house. When the girl narrated the incident to her mother she rushed her to the hospital in Panchkula.
