2 foreign nationals nabbed in Delhi with cocaine, MDMA worth ₹10 lakh

Two foreign nationals were arrested by the Delhi Police in Govindpuri area for allegedly peddling drugs. Cocaine and MDMA worth ₹10 lakh were recovered from their possession, an official said on Saturday.

The accused have been identified as Bernadin, 39, a national of the Ivory Coast, and Ezekile, 33, a Nigerian national. Both were residing in India without valid documents and had allegedly taken to drug trafficking to support themselves.

Police launched an operation on Thursday following a tip-off and raided a premises in Govindpuri, where the two were apprehended, a senior police officer said.

A total of 36.64 grams of cocaine, 61.16 grams of MDMA, eight mobile phones, a weighing machine, pouches and other packaging materials, and ₹10,600 in cash were seized from the spot.

A case has been registered at the Govindpuri police station under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act.

“During sustained interrogation, the duo revealed that they were unemployed and had overstayed in India. To earn money, they became involved in drug distribution,” the officer said.

Police are currently investigating the broader network behind the syndicate and are probing possible links with other drug suppliers or international handlers.

So far, no previous criminal records have been found against either of the accused, officials added.
