In accordance with the Supreme Court’s guidelines on green firecrackers, a total of 168 temporary licenses have so far been issued in Delhi for the sale of NEERI-approved green crackers, sources said.

So far, 188 applications have been received for licenses to sell green firecrackers. According to sources, 10 applications were rejected as per data updated till 9:30 pm on Saturday, while another 10 were under process.

The Delhi Police have deployed patrolling and enforcement teams to ensure strict compliance with the apex court’s directions.

Citizens have been urged to celebrate Diwali responsibly and report any violations of the court’s orders to the police helpline.

The police have also intensified district-wise measures, including increased patrolling and additional deployment of personnel, to ensure public safety and prevent the sale and use of unauthorized firecrackers across the city.

A substantial quantity of illegal firecrackers has been seized from various locations this month, and the police have also busted a network involved in their illegal supply and sale.

As per the Supreme Court’s directions, the sale and use of green firecrackers in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi will be permitted only from October 18 to October 20.

The use of authorized green firecrackers will be allowed only between 6:00–7:00 am and 8:00–10:00 pm on the day before Diwali and on Diwali day.

Only NEERI-approved green firecrackers bearing valid QR codes may be sold through licensed traders at designated locations identified by the District Administration and Delhi Police.

The ban on all other firecrackers remains in full effect. The sale or use of banned, series, or online-purchased firecrackers will attract strict legal action, the police said.
