A 15-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by her boyfriend in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area on Monday evening, police said.
Police said the victim, who was a resident of Jahangirpuri, along with a friend, had gone to a local market, where her boyfriend came and shot her multiple times.
“The incident occurred at 8:10 pm, in front of Dr. KK Mahajan’s clinic in D Block of Jahangirpuri. The teen was accompanied by her friend, who is also a resident of the same locality, when the accused approached her,” a police officer said.
During the preliminary investigation into this case, it came out that the shooter, Aryan (20), a resident of Jahangirpuri, came to the market along with an accomplice and shot the victim from close range.
Furthermore, police said that the accused is believed to have been in a relationship with the victim. The girl sustained multiple gunshot injuries and was rushed to the BJRM Hospital, where she was declared brought dead by the attending doctors.
The officer in his statement mentioned, “The body of the deceased has been preserved at the hospital for autopsy, and further inquiry is ongoing by the team to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder and trace the weapon used in the crime.”
Although police teams have been deployed to arrest the suspect and his accomplice, they fled the scene immediately after committing the crime.
As part of the inquiry, the investigators are looking for details in the CCTV footage from the area. The eyewitnesses are also being questioned to gather more information. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the BNS at the Jahangirpuri police station.
