12-year-old dies after falling from terrace while flying kite in Delhi

A teen boy lost his life after he fell from the terrace of his residence while flying a kite in southeast Delhi’s Zakir Nagar, the Delhi Police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the accident happened on Sunday, and the deceased was identified as Mohommad Saad, a resident of Zakir Nagar.

Hemant Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast), said, “We were informed about the incident at around 4.”

Saad was on the terrace of his four-storey house flying a kite.

Adding to his statement, he mentioned that, while trying to maneuver his kite, the victim’s foot slipped and he lost balance, falling onto the road below.

His family then rushed him to Holy Family Hospital, where he was announced brought dead by the attending doctors.

DCP Tiwari said that the boy was studying in Class 6 at a government school in Batla House, adding that his father is engaged in welding work.

Police said an investigation has been initiated in the matter, and CCTV footage from the vicinity has been analyzed that confirmed that the incident was an accident and no foul play is suspected.

Furthermore, the video of the accident also went viral on social media, where it can be seen that the minor fell on the road, the passerby stopped to inform his parents, and he was then eventually rushed to a nearby hospital.

The DCP then said that further proceedings related to accidental deaths are underway.
