The 108 National Ambulance Service gave a new lease of life to the mother and twins by conducting successful delivery in the ambulance. An official spokesperson said on Monday that on 10 July, Reena (26) from Khanog, Nanaina Tikkar in Sirmaur district, suffered from labour pain and her family members called up the 108 Ambulance Service for the assistance to shift her to the hospital.

The task was entrusted to Emergency Management Technician (EMT) Sangeeta Sharma and Pilot Mohan by the TBH Dharampur 108 ambulance service.

The staff, without losing time, reached the spot and found that the patient was suffering from extreme labour pains and delivery was expected at any time.

She was immediately shifted into the ambulance and the EMT took a prompt decision to conduct the delivery in the ambulance. The twins were successfully delivered, despite one of the baby having been born along with an amniotic sac in a critical condition. The critical baby was immediately provided life-saving treatment by the EMT.

After the first-aid was provided to the mother and the newborn twins, they were shifted to Regional Hospital by 108 Ambulance Service for further management.

The Solan Deputy Commissioner KC Chaman on Monday felicitated the EMT Sangeeta Sharma and Mohan for successfully handling the critical delivery case.

Himachal Pradesh GVK, Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) Head Mehul Sukumaran lauding Sangeeta and Mohan said that the 108 Ambulance Service is proving to be a boon for pregnant women.
