The regional office of Utkal Gramya Bank has initiated a probe into alleged fraud in Borda branch in Kalahandi district. The matter came to the lime light when hundreds of villagers of Dudhei, Artal, Kanduljhar, Gross and Ajrai which are under jurisdiction of Borda branch received notice from the bank to repay their outstanding loan amount.

The shocked villagers allege they had never obtained any loan from the bank. The victim villagers allege that some unscrupulous elements had secured a loan in their name and account. The amount involved could be over Rs one crore. The aggrieved villagers through the branch manager of Borda branch of Gramya bank had given a memorandum to the regional manager of the Gramya bank to enquire and to take action. The branch manager forwarded the grievances of the aggrieved villagers to the regional manager.

The regional manager of Utkal Gramya bank along with the manager on Thursday visited the branch and verified the loan accounts and initiated the probe in to the matter. The regional manager Asim Chandra Patra said the documents in the loan account will be verified and the aggrieved villagers will be interrogated to unearth the truth.
