The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) posted a marginal dip of 1% in volume in November, with 20.47 billion transactions valued at around Rs 26.32 trillion.
The transaction value was down by 3.5%. As compared to November 2024, the month witnessed a 32% rise in volume and 22% in value.
In September, this was 19.63 billion in volume and Rs 24.9 trillion in value. However, the average daily transactions increased from 668 million per day in October to 682 million per day in November.
Notably, October witnessed the highest-ever numbers in volume and value, with 20.7 billion transactions worth Rs 27.28 trillion following the festival season, coupled with GST 2.0 reliefs.
For the financial year 2025-26 so far, UPI has processed 12.41 billion transactions, with an average daily volume of 689.60 million and an average daily value of Rs 91,324.77 crore.
During 2024-25, the average daily volume stood at 516.07 million and the average daily value at Rs 71,839.58 crore, reflecting a clear increase in both the number and size of transactions.
According to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) data, there has been a consistent surge over the past five years. In November 2021, UPI logged only 4.18 billion transactions valued at Rs 7.68 lakh crore, and by November 2022, the figures had nearly doubled.
In November, the Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) was down by 8.6% to 369 million against 404 million in October. In terms of value, it dipped by 4% from Rs 6.42 trillion in October to Rs 6.15 trillion in November.
The number of daily transactions dipped to 12.3 million during the month against 13.02 million in October and 13.15 million in September.
In value, the daily transactions dipped marginally by close to 1 per cent from Rs 20,709 crore to Rs 20,506 crore in November.
On the other hand, the FASTag transactions spiked by 2.2% to 369 million, up from 361 million in October.
The value was also up by 5% to Rs 7,046 crore compared to Rs 6,686 crore in October. Further, the average daily transactions also increased to 12.31 million, with a value of Rs 235 crore.
