Following weak global markets, domestic bourses extended Thursday’s declines and started Friday’s trading session on a lower note.
At 9.50 am, the Sensex at the BSE was trading 177 points down at 26,383 while the Nifty at the NSE was trading 56 points lower at 8,137.
In the broader markets, BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices slipped 0.5 per cent and 0.6 per cent respectively.
Among the BSE sectoral indices, Metal index jumped the most, up 0.6 per cent, while FMCG index became the top loser, down 1.2 per cent.
On Wednesday, the Sensex had closed 93 points down at 26,560 and the Nifty had ended 32 points lower at 8,193.
Top gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: Coal India (up 1.3 per cent), ONGC (up 0.6 per cent), Tata Motors (up 0.6 per cent), Reliance Industries (up 0.5 per cent) and Hero Motocorp (up 0.4 per cent).
Top losers in the Sensex-30 pack: HDFC (down 2.1 per cent), Dr Reddy’s Labs (down 1.7 per cent), ITC (down 1.7 per cent), Asian Paints (down 1.3 per cent) and Adani Ports (down 1.2 per cent).
Meanwhile, the Rupee was trading two paise down at 68.36 against the US Dollar.
