Amid weak Asian peers, domestic equity markets closed last trading session of the week with marginal declines.

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) closed 105 points down at 28,668, on Friday, and the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed 36 points lower 8,832.

On Thursday, the Sensex had closed 266 points higher at 28,773 and the Nifty had closed 90 points higher at 8,867.

However, broader markets closed in the positive zone. BSE Midcap index zoomed 0.3 per cent while Smallcap index rose 0.1 per cent.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, Realty index closed with the biggest gain, up over 1 per cent, while Bankex index closed with the biggest decline, down 1.2 per cent. 

Top gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: Reliance Industries (up 1.4 per cent), Dr Reddy&’s Labs (up 1.1 per cent), TCS (up 0.9 per cent), HDFC (up 0.5 per cent) and Coal India (up 0.5 per cent).

Top losers in the Sensex-30 pack: Axis Bank (down 5.8 per cent), Lupin (down 2.6 per cent), Infosys (down 1.5 per cent), Power Grid (down 1.5 per cent) and ICICI Bank (down 1.4 per cent).

Meanwhile, the Rupee was trading flat at 67.66 against the US Dollar at 3.40 pm.
