Following volatile global equity markets, Domestic stock markets started last trading session of the week on a flat note.

At 9.48 am on Friday, the Sensex at the Bombay Stocks Exchange (BSE) was trading 31 points up at 28,154 while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 11 points higher at 8,684.

On Thursday, the Sensex had closed 118 points higher at 28,123 and the Nifty had closed 49 points up at 8,673.

In the broader markets, BSE Midcap index gained 0.4% and Smallcap index jumped 0.5 per cent.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, Capital Goods index registered the biggest gain with a jump of 0.5 per cent while Oil & Gas index posted the biggest decline with a dip of 0.2 per cent.

Top gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: SBI (up 3 per cent), Cipla (up 1.2 per cent), Asian Paint (up 1.2 per cent), NTPC (up 0.8 per cent) and Infosys (up 0.6 per cent).

Top losers in the Sensex-30 pack: Coal India (down 1.2 per cent), Power Grid (down 1 per cent), TCS (down 0.6 per cent), HDFC (down 0.5 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 0.4 per cent).

Meanwhile, the Rupee was trading 14 paise up at 66.95 against the US Dollar.
