Keeping previous gains, domestic equity markets were trading almost flat in the first hour of trade on Tuesday.
At 9.45 am, the Sensex at the Bombay Stocks Exchange (BSE) was trading 12 points down at 28,171 while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 10 points lower at 8,701.
On Monday, the Sensex had closed 61 points up at 28,140 and the Nifty had closed 28 points higher at 8,711.
In the broader markets, BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices slipped around 0.1 per cent each.
Among the BSE sectoral indices, Power index registered the biggest gain with a jump of 0.7 per cent while FMCG index became the lead loser with a dip of 0.9 per cent.
Top gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: Lupin (up 2 per cent), ONGC (up 1.4 per cent), Cipla (up 0.9 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 0.9 per cent) and Tata Motors (up 0.8 per cent).
Top losers in the Sensex-30 pack: ITC (down 1.2 per cent), Reliance Industries (down 0.7 per cent), Asian Paints (down 0.7 per cent), HDFC (down 0.6 per cent) and TCS (down 0.5 per cent).
Meanwhile, the Rupee was trading two paisa down at 66.86 against the US Dollar.
