Indian equity markets started last trading session of the week on a flat note amid mixed Asian cues.
At 9.50 am on Friday, the Sensex at the BSE was trading seven points higher at 26,526 while the Nifty at the NSE was trading four points down at 8,150.
In the broader markets, BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rose 0.1 per cent and 0.3 per cent respectively. 
Among the BSE sectoral indices, IT index registered the biggest gain with a jump of 0.6 per cent while Oil & Gas index became the top loser with a dip of 0.7 per cent.
On Thursday the Sensex had closed 84 points down at 26,519 and the Nifty had ended 29 points lower at 8,153.
Top gainers in the Nifty50 pack: Infosys (up 1.2 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.2 per cent), HDFC (up 1 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (up 0.6 per cent) and TCS (up 0.6 per cent).
Top losers in the Nifty50 pack: ONGC (down 1.8 per cent), Sun Pharma (down 1.8 per cent), M&M (down 1 per cent), Adani Ports (down 0.9 per cent) and ITC (down 0.8 per cent).
Meanwhile, the Rupee was trading one paisa higher at 67.84 against the US Dollar.
