Extending Friday&’s jumps amid positive global cues, domestic equity markets started Monday&’s trading session with marginal gains.

At 9.55 am, the Sensex at the Bombay Stocks Exchange (BSE) was trading 120 points higher at 28,199 while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 35 points up at 8,718.

On Friday, the Sensex had closed 364 points up at 28,078 and the Nifty had closed 132 points higher at 8,683.

In the broader markets, BSE Midcap index gained 0.4 per cent while Smallcap index jumped 0.6 per cent.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, Metal index registered the biggest gain with a jump of 1.7 per cent while Telecom index posted the biggest decline with a dip of 0.9 per cent.

Top gainers in the Sensex-30 pack: Bajaj Auto (up 1.8 per cent), Cipla (up 1.3 per cent), Reliance Industries (up 1.3 per cent), Wipro (up 1.1 per cent) and Lupin (up 1.1 per cent).

Top losers in the Sensex-30 pack: NTPC (down 1.1 per cent), Bharti Airtel (down 1 per cent), L&T (down 0.6 per cent), Asian Paints (down 0.1 per cent) and SBI (down 0.1 per cent).

Meanwhile, the Rupee was trading 14 paise higher at 66.77 against the US Dollar.
